For over 35 years I have been running catfish around on the tidal Potomac River. In the beginning is was Channel cats but over the last 15 years or so we have found a new love on the river. The big monster Bluecats have become the fish many anglers from around the country come and visit with me in hopes of that catch of a life time. Over the last few years I have been lucky to meet so many local anglers who have become hooked on blues as well as many anglers from other states who have come to spend a few days with me in running the river as well. Anglers from as far away as texas have come to see just what the Potomac river has to offer. |
In Jan 2008 I upgraded my boat to a 2096 Polar Kraft , running a 115 hp Yamaha four stroke jet. The boat has more room then my old boat and handles the big wakes that can blow up on the potomac at time like a dream. I had to move a few things around to make it a catfish boat but everyone that has been in it seems to enjoy all the room and the ride as well. The boat is set up with 12 rod holders 6 to fish out the back of the boat as well as 3 rod holders on each side of the boat. Thinks to my Sponsors Steve at Monster Rod Holders |
Back in 2006 I started the first ever Catfish tournament trail here in Maryland. Then in 2007 after the season was over and with the help of a few friends I started what today is The Catfish Nation. We now have Chapters in 7 states and a few more looking to get started. The catfish nation was set up to help bring beginners and weekend anglers together a few times a year in a local tournament trail. But it has become a place more then just about tournament fishing. We now have one of the top message boards in the country, where anyone can get or give information about anything you can think of. |
Because i am fishing tournaments most every weekend and they must be alive to weigh in, I needed a big live-well in my boat. The boat comes with a 60 gal live well but with the size of the fish sometimes 2 fish will use it all. But I needed a way to help keep them alive an well for up to 12 hours in some tournaments. |
This is where my buddy Steve Douglas at Awka-Lung came to the aid. They have come up with a product that will stabilize a live-well and create a safe and healthy environment for your catch that will ensure the highest survival rate possible. It has saved a few fish in the tournaments over the last year that it has been in my boat, as well as a few fish when we was just fishing for fun. If you are into or looking to get into tournament fishing you need to look into what this unit can and will do for your fish. Feel free to visit the message board and see what others have found out about the AWKA-LUNG Unit |
In the fall of 2008 I was contacted my Ralph Riley the maker of a new bait called KATJUICE. Seems Ralph has used the bait on channel cats and was catching alot of them off the bait. He ask if i would give it a shot on the potomac blues and see if it worked on them as well. So when it got here i did as Ralph said and well lets just say there is a new bait in my boat at all time now. |
In Sept 2008 I was ask to help with the Wounded Warriors around maryland. With the help of many other Catfish Nation members we puller together a outting to help make a few of our service Men & Women happy with a day on the water. On Oct 11th out of smallwood state park we enjoyed having 9 warriors for the days outting. Then again on Nov 8th we again took out 13 warriors this time and even more fun was had. But not just by the warriors the members of the catfish nation have become to look forward to the next outting as much as the service men & women they have along with them. Here are a few photos from the first two outting and we are looking to do a few more in 2009 |

I would like to welcome Boat US Angler & BlueWater LED Lights to my sponsor group, And I look forward to supporting them and all they have to offer. Boat US Angler has so much to offer from the road to the water. Knowing if i Break down they are there to help Check them out and see what they can do for you. Bluewater LED Light will make night fishing so much better. After i installed the green LED lights on my boat and turned them on, it was easy to see just what they will do. No more bright white lights to draw the bugs. Plus they run on less then 2 amps. So no more dead battery when fishing all night. If you have a boat look inti the Bluewater LED's from hunting to fish they will work great, just turn them on when you get to the ramp and see everything you need with holding a flashlight in your hands. |
